Finally

So, after many years of production, budget and scheduling issues and farming out work to some of the best animator's Europe has to offer, Nocturna was finally released.

I was tracking this production for a while, but I think in my mind I gave up that it would ever get finished, and so I kind of forgot about it. so much so that I didn't even notice it released LAST YEAR.

Well a friend let me borrow his DVD and I finally watched it. All I can say is; brilliant. This is one of the BEST art directed animated films of all time. The story is great the characters are wonderful and the animation is perfect.

I bugs the living jinkies out of me that this film didn't get a domestic (United States) theatrical release. Kids would LOVE this. Yes it would be scary somewhat, but facing your fear is what this is all about. It's a great film to show to children. The marketing and merchandising alone would be great! I mean, who wouldnt' want an action figure of the Cat Shepherd and a herd of cats? Or a plush Mr. Pee to sleep with at night? Hair Messer brand hair products for little girls? I mean, NIGHLIGHTS of the guys with the glowy butts! This film is awesome. And I know that in a way it would be horrible to commercialise the crap out of such a fine piece of art, it stands to reason that this film needs to be exploited so that it's in the home of every child.

This is one of those movies that actually surpassed my expectations, and now I feel sad that I was slow on the take and didn't notice it released. It is so well crafted that I will be reviewing it for many years to come. I'm glad to see a film that fills me with a sense of wonder again. I only wish that I could have been a part of this, or that in the future I can work on or develop a project as amazing as this.

This one gets 5 pegbars out of 5

buy it, watch it love it.
