So, i was out and about the intarweb and I stumbled across this site. Sometimes I really get blown away by european animation. I LOVED Asterix and the Vikings, Tripelettes of Belleville and Pyrats (created by Goblins), et cetera... So when I find something like this it makes me a happy Panda. What I love about Antoine Antin's work is really his direct simplicity. His movement feels so natural and not overbaked which we animator's have a tendancy to do. In fact, we're encouraged to do it. But sometimes you want to see something so natural to the eye that it feels like putting on a pair of socks that just came out of the dryer. At any rate he had a clip of some shots he did for a teaser to Siegfried. This was some really nice inspiring stuff. So OFF TO YOUTUBE! And I found this:
Brilliant! I don't know if it's an actual film or something they put together to try to get investors. Either way it's gorgeous. This guy should be directing the upcoming Elfquest movie, NOT the guy who directed Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
You can find a high quality quicktime of this here.
peace.
