So, I pre-ordered my copy of Eric Goldberg's book from Amazon.com. I was frustrated when the release date came and went and I didn't' get news of it shipping out. I checked the status of the order today, since Eric was supposed to be premiering it at Comic-con at the Stuart Ng booth this past weekend. I noticed that the item availability said they were Out of Stock. I can't imagine how this could be considering I had pre-ordered it.
I looked around and most places were saying it would be available sometime in September at most retailers. Barnes and Nobel's site had a target date of August 1st. In my search I found a bookstore in Studio City called Samuel French Book Seller. They had this promotion going on saying that Eric would be in their store on August 6th signing copies of his book! I got really excited, so, I called up the store and asked when they would be getting copies of the book in. They guy told me they already had some. I immediately told him to set aside a couple of copies for myself. When I arrived they had massive amounts of the book. They were piled up behind them, it was... well, glorious.
Yeah, I payed more than amazon, but I have the book in my hands NOW and am currently indulging myself. I'm glad to support Eric's book and a shop that had the product available asap. I will be returning on the 6th to get my copies signed and to congratulate Eric on the book.
Hope to see you guys there!
*Edit. The companion DVD for Eric's Book is a "must have" of it's own. You can frame by frame many staple actions in animation and see just how they read in real time as well as how they are contructed and charted. Just completely brilliant. Thank you so much Eric. Also, sometimes I take for granted just how much appeal Eric can generate in the simplest of designs, I'm humbled.
